Hello all. Yes it has been some time. I don’t post very often but for some reason people still visit here. So just to warn you, if I haven’t written for a while my thoughts tend to bottleneck, but I must pontificate anyway. I still have visitors from IRS and Justice IP addresses. The truth is that I have thrown in the towel on “tax avoidance” for now. I need to clarify what I mean by “tax avoidance”. It is my desire to live as an upstanding member of the community, to be known as a man of integrity. But amazingly that is what got Dick Simkanin sent to Federal prison. So I will acknowledge that I am a slave in some respects. I will do what massa says. You see, my massa lets me do many things. (ok, I will stop with the massa bit because it is just us. But massa don like it when I sound intelligent) You see, I have an earthly master, and a heavenly Father. The earthly master has not been true to the covenant that established his authority, he has become a tyrant. Do not assume that you understand what a tyrant is. It is foundational to what we are discussing here. And don’t just rely on Thomas Paine. I have come to the conclusion that Thomas Paine was the Michael Moore of his time. He was aligned much more closely to the French revolution than with the American war for independence. He is also the father of our modern social security system. It was his idea. Don’t you think it’s working out nicely for the cause of freedom and liberty?

If you want to know what The War for Independence was about, try reading Vindiciae Contra Tyrannos; A Defense of Liberty Against Tyrants. It was much more influential than Common Sense. I wonder why it is not even mentioned in government schools or most colleges and universities.

So my earthy master who is not even a rightful one does not like it when someone tries to walk in truth. In fact you can into a heap of trouble over it. So you got to be wise. Jesus said “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

So I am going to wait to fight and focus on raising my children. Each of us has a different role in the fight. I feel that my role is to enable my children to walk in truth. Joe Banister is fighting the good fight. David Champion is fighting the good fight. One might be in jail for a long time; the other is staying right behind his microphone every Saturday. I am not worried. I know that God is in control. I think that where the Tax Honesty movement misses it is that they what it to be over now. This nation didn’t just come into being, it was the fruit of the reformation of the church. Our fight for freedom is more than taxes, it has to have a multigenerational focus. Joe Banister’s organization was called Freedom Above Fortune. But many who call themselves patriots have put freedom above family, freedom above fidelity, freedom above faith in God.

So I recognize my slavery, but I also recognize my Deliverer. It ain’t over. Stay tuned.

An Alternative CPI?

This is something I have been pondering for a few months. What is the real rate of inflation? I mean for an average family just trying to get ahead. If I wasn’t paying Social Security taxes I could buy health insurance for my family. It’s almost exactly the same amount. But they would rather “give” me heath insurance for my family and me be very thankful for it.

Tax Season Update 2004

I am amazed of how much has changed in my life over the last 3 years. Once I started to investigate what the law actually says, I have tried to live freedom. It didn't happen until after I was married, supporting my wife and had our son on the way. I wanted to stand on principle and refuse to allow a portion of my property to be taken from me against my will. But in order to do that I would have to quit my job. Not an option for me at that time.

in this blog I attempt to shine the light of truth on various subjects, of which taxes tend to be rather prominent. I hope that you don't think that I live perfectly in this area. I am currently working towards living free as a nontaxpayer, but right now I still am signing a W4 so that I can work to provide for my family. My family is my first priority. There is nothing wrong with living in the wilderness for a season on the journey to the "promised land". God has blessed us and is continuing to bless us.

Where I am refusing to budge in principle is getting a Social Security Number for my son. I just won't do it.

So this year we decided to go ahead and file the 1040 form. When we got our return it had been changed by the IRS and the deduction for my son had been disallowed. I was of the understanding that they would allow me to claim him even without a number, I was wrong. We are a family of 3, with another baby on the way before this year is over, living on less than $26,000 a year. My wife stays home, our food and rent are paid for. We give 5 times more to charity than John Kerry in a non-election year. But the IRS will not allow me to claim a standard deduction for my son. So instead of getting around $3000 back like many familys I know, jack squat.

I pay more in Social Security taxes than I do for groceries every month. Just something to think about.

If I got my provision from another source than a job it would be much easier to follow the law and take home 100% of what I make.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but my time on line has shrunk a
bit. I probably get about 20 minutes a day on the Internet and about
18 of that is reading Vox Day, lets face it, he is my Dan Rather. Did

Inside the Tax Honesty Movement: An Interview with Dave Champion

BR: Business Reform chose to interview you because of your leadership in the Tax Honesty Movement. Can you describe your involvement to our readers?

DC: I wear several different hats concerning my involvement with the Tax Honesty Movement. I am the Executive Director of Original Intent (www.originalintent.org), which is an organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of our God-given inalienable rights in our discourse with government. Original Intent's primary tool is education. Despite the fact that under our form of government God is our Sovereign and He has given us our inalienable rights, today's government officials too often find those God-given rights to be inconvenient and act as though our rights are subject to modification, alteration, or total abolition if they impede the goals of politicians or
the courts. We need to correct the government's conduct and Original Intent is a part of that effort. At Original Intent, Tax Honesty issues are only part of a larger picture.

I'm also the founder of Nontaxpayer.org, an organization that assists nontaxpayers in living happy and successful lives in a world that believes everyone must be a taxpayer. Sadly, most Americans are not even aware that the federal courts have drawn a crisp distinction between "taxpayers" and "nontaxpayers." The only reason the average American is a "taxpayer" instead of "nontaxpayer" is that he has no idea what tax law really says and so he simply does what he's told. Considering the cost and devastation to American families and the American way of life, this lack of knowledge is almost criminal in its consequences.

BR: Tell me what the Tax Honesty Movement is all about.

DC: The Tax Honesty Movement is a name that sprung up about five years ago to describe those people who collectively want to see U.S. tax law applied and administrated honestly and in accordance with the written law. Despite the fact that the name "Tax Honesty Movement" was coined in the late 1990s, the movement has been around since the early 1950s. Computers, CD-ROMs, and the Internet have simply allowed people within the Movement to consolidate their information and communicate as never before.

BR: Is the Tax Honesty Movement is growing?

DC: Not only is the Movement growing in sheer numbers, but the profile of the people coming to the Movement has changed dramatically in the last several years. When I first became involved with the Movement about ten years ago, most of its proponents were hourly employees or low-level salaried employees. One of the first things I noticed was the distinct lack of businessmen and professionals. Today the picture is completely different. At Nontaxpayer.org we are seeing a huge increase in the number of doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and other professionals who are seeking information and guidance on living successfully as nontaxpayers.

BR: What is your view regarding how the U.S. tax law is being administrated?

DC: The U.S. tax law is not being applied and administrated honestly and in accordance with the written law. That reality is not a matter of opinion or wishful thinking; it is as real as our salvation through Christ. The evidence is irrefutable and the government has consistently refused to send representatives to debate legal researchers about what the law really says, versus how the laws are being enforced. Of course I understand the government's position completely; if I was defrauding millions of American citizens to the tune of hundreds of billion dollars a year, I'd be wary of attending a debate too.

"Tax professionals" will offer all sorts of rhetoric in opposition, but there's no legal substance behind their statements. A friend and fellow radio talk show host in Missouri paid a couple of tax attorneys to answer questions about income tax liability. One attorney contradicted himself from paragraph to paragraph, and the other blatantly refused to answer the questions. The IRS offers the same thing; rhetoric but no law.

There are quite a few organizations that have standing offers to pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who can bring forth the law that makes the average Americans liable for income tax. I'd guess that cumulatively there must be $500,000 ready to go to the person who can provide the statute that makes people liable, yet no one even has made a credible attempt at it. Therefore, approximately half a million is still on the table.

BR: Those are some pretty heavy facts. Why don't more Americans know about this issue?

DC: Most Americans have already heard that they don't really need to pay income tax, but for one reason or another they didn't pursue the matter. Fear of the IRS is usually the biggest factor motivating people to ignore the information when it comes their way, but that's changed quite a bit in the last ten years. More people are seeking out the truth of the issue today than ever before. It's exciting to watch the truth spread far and wide despite the best efforts of the opposition to scare people away from it.

BR: Where's the media been on this story? We don't hear much from them about it.

DC: How right you are. The media in this country is a whole lot less free than Americans believe it to be. That's why publications such as Business Reform are so important. There are certain issues that the dominant media considers taboo, and this is one of them. As a matter of fact, the reason I started my own radio show was that the dominant media has a virtual blackout on this story. I can't tell you how many times I've been denied an opportunity to appear on various media outlets during tax season (January 1 through April 15), only to then see some poor unprepared inarticulate person being interviewed instead. Unprepared inarticulate people are used so that the host can easily make the guest look foolish and non-credible. In other words, it's a premeditated hatchet job.

BR: Why is the media not reporting such a critical issue?

DC: The IRS conduct over the years has simply made it clear to the media that to allow stories such as this to see the light of day in a positive manner will be punished. All corporations exist to make profit. Anything that jeopardizes that goal is considered not in the best interest of the corporations—that includes news corporations. These news corporations simply know that the IRS will "take a special interest" in the company if it permits such stories to be run. They are only allowed to run such stories if they make the Tax Honesty Movement look weak and foolish. To do otherwise is to invite IRS retribution.

BR: You said that most Americans are taxpayers simply because they do not know what the laws really say. In your view, what does tax law really say?

DC: At more than 7,000 pages, the Internal Revenue Code is too lengthy to dissect during this interview, but I'll give you a few poignant and shocking realities of the tax code and its regulations. If your readers want to verify the information, they can go to Original Intent's website or they can contact me at Nontaxpayer.org.

1. The exchange of labor for compensation in the private sector, in a state of the Union, in an occupation of common right, is not now, nor has it ever been, subject to any form of income or employment tax.

2. There is no provision within the Internal Revenue Code that requires payroll withholding from workers in the private sector. The Form W-4, which most companies force their workers to sign, is not intended to be executed by private-sector workers, but only by government workers.

3. There is no requirement in law for a private sector firm to acquire an Employer Identification Number (EIN).

4. Private companies that don't engage in payroll withholding are not required to file Forms 940 or 941.

5. An SSN/EIN/TIN is not required to open a bank account if the party opening the account is a nontaxpayer.

6. Form 1099 is not required for every payment over $600.00, but only for those payments made in connection with transactions for which the payer has received a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

7. There is no provision in law that requires an American citizen to provide a SSN/EIN/TIN for a privatesector domestic financial transaction.

BR: As you can imagine, those claims are contrary to everything that we have heard.

DC: That's exactly what I thought when I first heard them. But of course at that time I hadn't read the applicable statutes and regulations and I was doing what most Americans do; I was simply doing as I was told by tax "professionals."

Since that time I've invested about 15,000 hours of research into tax law and I've had occasion to publicly debate tax attorneys and CPAs. In fact, there's even a televised debate that you can watch on Original Intent in which John Turner (ex-IRS officer) and I debate a tax attorney and a CPA. They never knew what hit them. The whole situation would be downright funny if the consequences weren't so grave.

There's nothing more I would enjoy than to have a televised coast-to-coast debate between a panel of Tax Honesty advocates and a panel of IRS attorneys. Unfortunately the IRS refuses to discuss "the law" publicly, instead choosing to characterize Tax Honesty advocates as scofflaws on the fringe of society. Unfortunately for the IRS, its mischaracterizations and dismissive attitude only fuels the growth of the Tax Honesty Movement.

BR: Wasn't there a Congressional hearing scheduled a few years ago to get troubling tax law questions answer? Whatever came of that?

DC: You're right. In 2001 the IRS and the Department of Justice had signed a document agreeing to appear on Capital Hill and answer 299 questions put forth by the Tax Honesty Movement. This was brought about by the efforts of We The People Foundation and Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD). I can only assume that the IRS and DOJ attorneys believed their own propaganda and figured that everyone in the Movement was inbred and illiterate. Their only requirement was that they received copies of the questions at least two weeks before the hearing. Their request was honored and 299 questions were presented to them two weeks before the scheduled hearing. Shortly thereafter the DOJ and IRS pulled out of the hearing and have never been willing to answer the 299 questions.

We The People Foundation had arranged to have the hearing aired over the internet, via Webcast, which would allow anyone with Internet access to view the hearings for a nominal fee—sort of like "pay per view." This would have allowed millions of Americans to see the hearings live while the government attorneys made mincemeat out of the Tax Honesty advocates.

But alas, apparently not, because after the government attorneys reviewed the 299 questions, they decided that they would not attend the hearing. What would cause the government to forego such a wonderful opportunity to publicly humiliate and destroy a growing opposition? I think the answer is obvious—once the government reviewed the questions, they realized that their goose was cooked. It would not be the Tax Honesty Movement who would suffer a crushing defeat, but the government itself.

BR: Where do the courts fall on these issues?

DC: The rulings usually support our side. I know a lot of CPAs and attorneys will be screaming that that isn't so, but it is true when you dig a little deeper. First, if anyone reads the income tax information in Original Intent or other similar sites, the first thing they will note is that many of the key legal doctrine discussed are confirmed by court decisions, usually from the U.S. Supreme Court. Secondly, it has been my observation that the IRS only takes people to trial who are somehow vulnerable. This may mean that the person holds a demonstrably incorrect legal view or that the person has compromised his own stated positions by his actions. Tax law can be complicated and some good-hearted people simply make mistakes while trying to do the right thing. It is these people that the government goes after.

It's been my experience that the government leaves nontaxpayers alone who are handling their affairs properly. That's because bringing such people to trial would result in acquittals and case law adverse to the government's goals. And believe me, the goal of most tax prosecutions is purely propaganda. We have over 274,000,000 people living in this country, but in 2003 there were only about 350 criminal tax prosecutions. Most trials that involve Tax Honesty proponents take place during the tax season, and if found guilty, sentencing is scheduled for just before April 15. It's a publicity campaign, not a desire to see justice done.

BR: You mention that the U.S. Supreme Court supports your position, can you give us any proof for that?

DC: There are a number of U.S. Supreme Court decisions that easily prove the fraud of the income tax system as applied to most Americans. Here are a few that sum things up quickly:

1. In this country Americans have "inalienable rights…granted by the Creator." According to the U.S. Supreme Court, such God-given rights are beyond the government's authority to alter, modify, or abolish because they are not granted by the government and these rights existed prior to the creation of the states or federal governments. Inalienable rights are also referred to as "fundamental rights."

2. The Court has ruled that one such fundamental right is the right to contract with another for your labor.

3. The Court has ruled that you have a fundamental right to contract for the labor of others.

4. The Court has ruled that property ownership is a fundamental right.

5. The Court has ruled that money you earn from your labors is your property.

6. The Court has ruled that once something is within the legislature's taxing authority, the amount of the tax is left completely to the discretion of the legislature. In other words, the legislature can set the tax at 1 percent or 100 percent, at its discretion.

7. The Court has ruled that the power to tax is the power to destroy.

Based on these and more U.S. Supreme Court holdings, the constitution, and other important legal factors, it becomes self-evident that income tax laws cannot constitutionally apply to the average American. If the state or federal governments had the authority to tax you on the compensation you earn in exchange for your labor, that would mean the government would have the power to destroy your inalienable rights. What if the government taxed your compensation at the rate of 100 percent? That would effectively negate the exercise of every right stated above.

BR: Are you saying that the Internal Revenue Code is unconstitutional?

DC: Not at all. That's a common fallacy. The Code is 100 percent constitutional. Many of the taxes contained within the Code have nothing to do with the income tax and therefore have nothing to do with this discussion. Additionally, American citizens can create legitimate income tax liability for themselves by availing themselves of certain foreign income opportunities or by participating in certain Congressionally created income opportunities. However, domestically, in the private sector, there is no law making any American liable for income tax.

We can easily verify this by looking at who the US Secretary of the Treasury requires to use Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN). Since the Secretary has almost unlimited authority over taxpayers, he’d certain require all legitimate taxpayers to use a TIN. So who has he required by law to use TINs? By regulation the Secretary only requires the following private-sector persons to provide a Taxpayer Identification Number (which includes your SSN) to anyone concerning a domestic financial transaction:

1. A foreign person that has income effectively connected with the conduct of a U.S. trade or
business…

2. A foreign person that has a U.S. office or place of business…

3. A nonresident alien treated as a resident…

4. A foreign person that furnishes a withholding certificate described in Sec. 1.1441-1(e)(2)…

According to the Secretary of the Treasury’s own regulations, no American is required to provide a tax number for any domestic private-sector financial transaction. Therefore, as you can see, it is not The Constitution, the Internal Revenue Code, or the U.S. Supreme court that are wrong about who is liable to pay income tax, it’s the Executive Branch that intentionally misapply and unlawfully enforcement the tax laws. That’s what most people don’t get – the law, as written, acknowledges and supports your fundamental rights because it does not make the average American liable for income tax. If the IRS and the courts would apply and enforce the law as written, we’d be in great shape! As Christian Americans it’s our job to hold our governments accountable and not to participate in intentionally fraudulent conduct just because there might be a cost to oppose it.

Now don’t get me wrong, being a nontaxpayer is not all that hard. The Tax Honesty Movement has learned a lot in the last decade and the risks for nontaxpayers today are only a fraction of what they were just a few years ago. However, whether the risks are small or large, Christians need to take a stand in this fight. To do nothing, to go along as you always have in the face of a recognizable evil, is to turn your face away from the truth—and to turn your face away from the truth is to turn your face away from God.

BR: There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of CPAs and tax attorneys practicing in America. Where are they on this issue?

DC: CPAs are taught how to keep books and compute taxes. That's what they do. Most people never ask an accountant if they owe income tax. They simply ask the accountant to prepare their return. The accountant simply complies with the request, which is how they generate their income in most cases. As you can imagine, the accounting and tax law industry has a vested interest in keeping this information from getting to the public because they would be unemployed if the truth came out that American citizens are not liable to pay income tax.

On a more positive note, however, more and more accountants are accepting the truth about tax law every year. There are some very high-profile CPAs who have come out publicly in support of the proper and honest understanding of tax law.

BR: Where do you see Christian business in this struggle?

DC: Although the Movement is heavily populated by Christians, the Christian community-at-large, which includes Christian business owners, has been a dismal disappointment; offering nothing but platitudes such as "render under Caesar" and other off-point quotes from scripture taken woefully out of context.

Christians need to join this fight because it is the right thing to do. It is the moral thing to do. I don't advocate that people jump in precipitously, but I believe that it is the duty of every Christian in America to learn the truth about this issue and stand against lies and abuse—by action, not just words. This fraud continues because Christians—the core of American virtue don't do anything about it.

If you are stealing the property of your neighbor simply because you fear Caesar (government), you are committing a terrible injustice for which you will be accountable before the Lord. The Eight Commandment is "Thou shalt not steal."

BR: I know our readers are curious to know what's involved in becoming a nontaxpayer?

DC: Actually it's simpler than they probably imagine. It only appears confusing because the smoke screen of deceit is so thick.

The first step is to get some education under your belt. You can't make a proper determination as to whether you're a taxpayer or a nontaxpayer until you know enough about the subject to make an informed decision. One good place to get information is on the Education section of Original Intent's website, and there are many other sources as well. Once you get some education, and make a "status determination," then you simply pursue your affairs as either a taxpayer or a nontaxpayer, based on your determination.

BR: What advise would you give to someone who wants to proceed with becoming a nontaxpayer through the legal means?

DC: Remember the movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark"? In the beginning, Harrison Ford's character, Indiana Jones, enters an ancient temple to locate a solid gold icon placed in the temple centuries before. As he moves into the temple there are all types of booby-traps designed to do terrible nasty things to anyone entering the temple. When he finally arrives in the room that holds the artifact, he can only approach the artifact by stepping on certain stone tiles on the floor. To step on the wrong tile will bring instant death! While far less dramatic, becoming a nontaxpayer is something akin to Jones' experience. You have to know what booby-traps have been set out for you, and which tiles to steer clear of.

Government misapplication of the tax laws, and the private sector's ridiculous and unfounded belief that they must act as the IRS's enforcers, creates an environment in which the unsuspecting citizen will be ensnared into the tax system by the many snares that have been intentionally laid out to trap you.

Like Indiana Jones, nontaxpayers simply need to know where the snares are and how to avoid them or disarm them. It may seem intimidating on first blush, but its really rather simple once you learn a few simple rules of the game.

BR: What role, if any, does asset protection play in the Tax Honesty Movement?

DC: Asset protection can be a valuable tool for both taxpayers and nontaxpayers. In today's litigious environment, one cannot be too careful about securing one's assets.

Asset protection is a growing business, both in the Tax Honesty Movement and in America generally. There is a growing sense that property is no longer really sacred or secure in America. Today's business owner is well advised to protect his assets. With the ever-increasing price of insurance, asset protection can also provide relief from your ballooning insurance premiums.

Fortunately the cost of asset protection is relatively modest and the process rather straightforward. Asset protection can serve a number of different goals very effectively, but it has to be done properly.

Because it's an emerging field (at least for the middle class) it's a good idea to make sure that the person assisting you has a firm understanding of the legal principles involves with asset protection. More than a few people have thought their assets were secure, only to find out later that the structure or process was flawed and there was little or no protection when it was really needed.

Some people automatically turn to attorneys for asset protection, but it's been my experience that attorneys aren't particularly well educated in this area. It's best to find someone who specializes in asset protection.

BR: What's are your goals for the future? Where do you see the Tax Honesty Movement going from here?

DC: Despite our many successes and the growth of the Movement, there is still much to be done. Of course our number one ally is the Lord because he despises deceit. Despite our incredibly powerful adversary, God has continued to strengthen us in the fight. Because He stands against deceit, the only question is when will the end of the misapplication of tax law come. I suspect the current fraudulently imposed tax system will die an ignominious death within the next five years. Once the number of informed people, especially business owners, hits critical mass, it's all over.

MP3 and the spoken word

I have neglected for far too long the topic that has greatly impacted me as of late, The Spoken Word MP3. Like many people I enjoy talk radio, 570 KVI, KTTH 770, 710 KIRO, but I am not able to listen to it at work. Also my commute time has shrunk to 10 minutes, so it is possible that I could hear only commercials and news on my way to work. Enter the Spoken word mp3, via a few sources.

First I have to set this up with the fact that I would not even have a portable mp3 player if it wasnt for the good people at Palm making it a part of their Tungstun E PDA. Add in a 32mb SD Card that I got for free from my mom because she upgreaded to a 256mb card for her camara and I am in business. That was 4 months ago, I am now a sponge that soaks information while I work.

The first source of mp3's was Dave Champion of American Radio who is good enough to archive his entire show's history on their website. Why dont you start with with the 45 min interview with Michael Badnarik back on November 15th, 20003 [link 5mb]

But this week Vox Day has inspired me to take the leap and do what I have been wanting to do for over a year, produce my own radio show style talk segments and broadcast to the world.

I love that I can do whatever I want with my blog. I am under no obligation to report on any story. I can say whatever I want. Because I am semi-anonymous I can even push many subjects that could get me fired from a job or hurt close friendships. Mind you I don't want to hurt anyone, that is why I hold my tounge in many conversations so I don't push people away needlessly. Granted there is a time to separate but if all you do is push people away from you, I would do some close self examination.

My desire is to post thoughts about life as a Christian living against the grain of polytheistic american culture. In order to post more often I need to overcome in personal self discipline areas of time management. Well I feel good about the future. I am weak but I am laying down my life and living in the death of Christ Jesus. I know that sounds funny but so goes the Life of Freedom. I am tired of talking about it. I want to live it.

Why Nerds are unpopular

I'm suspicious of this theory that thirteen year old kids are intrinsically messed up. If it's physiological, it should be universal. Are Mongol nomads all nihilists at thirteen? I've read a lot of history, and I don't think I've seen a single reference to this supposedly universal fact before the twentieth century. Teenage apprentices in the Renaissance seem to have been cheerful and eager. They got in fights and played tricks on one another of course (Michelangelo had his nose broken by a bully), but they weren't crazy.

As far as I can tell, the concept of the hormone-crazed teenager is coeval with suburbia. I don't think this is a coincidence. I think teenagers are driven crazy by the life they're made to lead. Teenage apprentices in the Renaissance were working dogs. Teenagers now are neurotic lapdogs. Their craziness is the craziness of the idle everywhere.

Having attended and graduated from a small Christian school, I grew up in a multi-grade classroom setting. Even the real nerdy kids were accepted. We all played together. No one was picked on too much. I sucked at school work but that was because it did not interest me.

I wish I could go back. I would love to devour some history book all day long.

As a senior my teacher tried to get me to read "The Road to Surfdom", boy I wish I would have. Instead I read "The New World Order" by Pat Robertson. How silly was I?

All that to say, my kids are going to get a Classical Christian Home Education!

A few words. After reading an extensive list of arguments for and against Intelectual Property, I am resting with the argument that it is property, and property should be protected.

I liked Lysander Spooner's essay the best. I am now reading No Treason. My thoughts about loyalty and duty to ones country are changing. I am in no way anti-government, far from it. I am for lawful government that keeps within its legal boundaries. Government is necessary. Self government, family government, church government. When government does not cross into the territory of another jurisdiction you have the proper balance.

ABOUT the time I began my enterprise in Rochester I chanced to spend a night and a day under the roof of a man whose character and conversation, and whose objects and aims in life made a very deep impression upon my mind and heart. His name had been mentioned to me by several prominent colored men, among whom were the Rev. Henry Highland Garnet and J. W. Loguen. In speaking of him their voices would drop to a whisper, and what they said of him made me very eager to see and know him. Fortunately I was invited to see him in his own house. At the time to which I now refer this man was a respectable merchant in a populous and thriving city, and our first place of meeting was at his store. This was a substantial brick building, on a prominent, busy street. A glance at the interior, as well as at the massive walls without, gave me the impression that the owner must be a man of considerable wealth. From this store I was conducted to his house, where I was kindly received as an expected guest. My welcome was all I could have asked. Every member of the family, young and old, seemed glad to see me, and I was made much at home in a very little while. I was, however, a little disappointed with the appearance of the house and with its location. After seeing the fine store I was prepared to see a fine residence, in an eligible locality, but this conclusion was completely dispelled by actual observation. In fact, the house was neither commodious nor elegant, nor its situation desirable. It was a small wooden building, on a back street, in a neighborhood chiefly occupied by laboring men and mechanics; respectable enough to be sure, but not quite the place, I thought, where one would look for the residence of a flourishing and successful merchant. Plain as was the outside of this man's house, the inside was plainer. Its furniture would have satisfied a Spartan. It would take longer to tell what was not in this house than what was in it. There was an air of plainness about it which almost suggested destitution. My first meal passed under the misnomer of tea, though there was nothing about it resembling the usual significance of that term. It consisted of beef soup, cabbage, and potatoes; a meal such as a man might relish after following the plow all day, or performing a forced march of a dozen miles over a rough road in frosty weather. Innocent of paint, vaneering, varnish, or table-cloth, the table announced itself unmistakably of pine and of the plainest workmanship. There was no hired help visible. The mother, daughters, and sons did the serving and did it well. They were evidently used to it, and had no thought of any impropriety or degradation in being their own servants. It is said that a house in some measure reflects the character of its occupants; this one certainly did. In it there were no disguises, no illusions, no make believes. Everything implied stern truth, solid purpose, and rigid economy. I was not long in company with the master of this house before I discovered that he was indeed the master of it, and was likely to become mine too if I stayed long enough with him. He fulfilled St. Paul's idea of the head of the family[.] His wife believed in him, and his children observed him with reverence. Whenever he spoke his words commanded earnest attention. His arguments, which I ventured at some points to oppose, seemed to convince all; his appeals touched all, and his will impressed all. Certainly I never felt myself in the presence of a stronger religious influence than while in this man's house.

In person he was lean, strong, and sinewy, of the best New England mould, built for times of trouble, fitted to grapple with the flintiest hardships. Clad in plain American woolen, shod in boots of cowhide leather, and wearing a cravat of the same substantial material, under six feet high, less than 150 pounds in weight, aged about fifty, he presented a figure, straight and symmetrical as a mountain pine. His bearing was singularly impressive. His head was not large, but compact and high. His hair was coarse, strong, slightly gray and closely trimmed, and grew low on his forehead. His face was smoothly shaved, and revealed a strong square mouth, supported by a broad and prominent chin. His eyes were bluish gray, and in conversation they were full of light and fire. When on the street, he moved with a long, springing race horse step, absorbed by his own reflections, neither seeking or shunning observation. Such was the man, whose name I had heard in whispers, such was the spirit of his house and family, such was the house in which he lived, and such was Captain John Brown, whose name has now passed into history, as one of the most marked characters, and greatest heroes known to American fame.

After the strong meal already described, Captain Brown cautiously approached the subject which he wished to bring to my attention; for he seemed to apprehend opposition to his views. He denounced slavery in look and language fierce and bitter, thought that slaveholders had forfeited their right to live, that the slaves had the right to gain their liberty in any way they could, did not believe that moral suasion would ever liberate the slave, or that political action would abolish the system. He said that he had long had a plan which could accomplish this end, and he had invited me to his house to lay that plan before me. He said he had been for some time looking for colored men to whom he could safely reveal his secret, and at times he had almost despaired of finding such men, but that now he was encouraged, for he saw heads of such rising up in all directions. He had observed my course at home and abroad, and he wanted my coöperation. His plan as it then lay in his mind, had much to commend it. It did not, as some suppose, contemplate a general rising among the slaves, and a general slaughter of the slave masters. An insurrection he thought would only defeat the object, but his plan did contemplate the creating of an armed force which should act in the very heart of the south. He was not averse to the shedding of blood, and thought the practice of carrying arms would be a good one for the colored people to adopt, as it would give them a sense of their manhood. No people he said could have self respect, or be respected, who would not fight for their freedom. He called my attention to a map of the United States, and pointed out to me the far-reaching Alleghanies, which stretch away from the borders of New York, into the Southern States. "These mountains," he said, "are the basis of my plan. God has given the strength of the hills to freedom, they were placed here for the emancipation of the negro race; they are full of natural forts, where one man for defense will be equal to a hundred for attack; they are full also of good hiding places, where large numbers of brave men could be concealed, and baffle and elude pursuit for a long time. I know these mountains well, and could take a body of men into them and keep them there despite of all the efforts of Virginia to dislodge them. The true object to be sought is first of all to destroy the money value of slave property; and that can only be done by rendering such property insecure. My plan then is to take at first about twenty-five picked men, and begin on a small scale; supply them arms and ammunition, post them in squads of fives on a line of twenty-five miles, the most persuasive and judicious of whom shall go down to the fields from time to time, as opportunity offers, and induce the slaves to join them, seeking and selecting the most restless and daring."

He saw that in this part of the work the utmost care must be used to avoid treachery and disclosure. Only the most conscientious and skillful should be sent on this perilous duty; with care and enterprise he thought he could soon gather a force of one hundred hardy men, men who would be content to lead the free and adventurous life to which he proposed to train them, when these were properly drilled, and each man had found the place for which he was best suited, they would begin work in earnest; they would run off the slaves in large numbers, retain the brave and strong ones in the mountains, and send the weak and timid to the north by the underground railroad; his operations would be enlarged with increasing numbers, and would not be confined to one locality.

When I asked him, how he would support these men? he said emphatically, he would subsist them upon the enemy. Slavery was a state of war, and the slave had a right to anything necessary to his freedom. But said I, "suppose you succeed in running off a few slaves, and thus impress the Virginia slaveholder with a sense of insecurity in their slaves, the effect will be only to make them sell their slaves further south." "That," said he, "will be first what I want to do; then I would follow them up. If we could drive slavery out of one county, it would be a great gain; it would weaken the system throughout the state." "But they would employ bloodhounds to hunt you out of the mountains." "That they might at attempt," said he, "but the chances are, we should whip them, and when we should have whipt one squad, they would be careful how they pursued." "But you might be surrounded and cut off from your provisions or means of subsistence." He thought that could not be done so they could not cut their way out, but even if the worst came, he could but be killed, and he had no better use for his life than to lay it down in the cause of the slave. When I suggested that we might convert the slaveholders, he became much excited, and said that could never be, "he knew their proud hearts and that they would never be induced to give up their slaves, until they felt a big stick about their heads." He observed that I might have noticed the simple manner in which he lived, adding that he had adopted this method in order to save money to carry out his purposes. This was said in no boastful tone, for he felt that he had delayed already too long and had no room to boast either his zeal or his self denial. Had some men made such display of rigid virtue, I should have rejected it, as affected, false and hypocritical, but in John Brown, I felt it to be real as iron or granite. From this night spent with John Brown in Springfield, Mass., 1847, while I continued to write and speak against slavery, I became all the same less hopeful of its peaceful abolition. My utterances became more and more tinged by the color of this man's strong impressions. Speaking at an anti-slavery convention in Salem, Ohio, I expressed this apprehension that slavery could only be destroyed by blood-shed, when I was suddenly and sharply interrupted by my good old friend Sojourner Truth with the question, "Frederick, is God dead?" "No." I answered, and "because God is not dead slavery can only end in blood." My quaint old sister was of the Garrison school of non-resistants, and was shocked at my sanguinary doctrine, but she too became an advocate of the sword, when the war for the maintenance of the Union was declared.

I am almost finished with Lysander Spooner's AN ESSAY ON THE RIGHT OF AUTHORS AND INVENTORS TO A PERPETUAL PROPERTY IN THEIR IDEAS. I read four chapters of it out load to my wife the other night. As a result we had a very rich conversation about making copies of music for personal use. While I still feel no sorrow for the plight of the RIAA, I also believe that it is wrong to steal something that another man worked hard and labored over. The essay is particularly mind expanding in the area of wealth creation.

I am now of the opinion that the we have this "problem" of file sharing as a result of society matching the morals of our leaders, namely the refusal of our government to acknowledge the rights of property owners over their possesions. Mr Spooner makes the case very well that labor is property, and to steal the fruit of his labor is to steal his property.

These essays should be required reading for kids in school. The wealth of information that is free on the internet is amazing. I really look forward to teaching my children these things as they homeschool.

Accountant penalized for anti-tax advice

An administrative law judge in Washington, D.C., made his ruling in late December after the IRS' Office of Professional Responsibility filed a complaint. The IRS announced the judge's decision Monday.

"The very significant problem with Banister's advice to his clients is that it is absolutely wrong," Judge William Moran wrote. "In fact, Banister's assertions have been addressed by so many federal courts that they are no longer afforded the dignity of repeating the explanations as to why the claims are meritless."

Really? Well that it should be simple to answer a simple letter. But the IRS will not do that. The IRS is above answering to non-taxpayers. The IRS only corresponds with taxpayers. So where does that leave us non-taxpayers?

The only problem with his photo blog is that it shows so many pictures, about 4meg worth. Doug is such a hard working man that he can post over 200 pictures in a single day. (humor) I would dare say I have never seen Allen or David post that hard (/humor)

I just spoke with him on the cell. That is accesablilty. Try calling your congressman at 1pm on a Saturday while he is driving across the country. Doug Kenline is a man of the people.

Vox gives some great points on the Dick Simkanin trial (farce) coming up on Monday. Go read now. I wasn't kidding!

The truth is that some things are too dangerous to ignore. For fedgov and the IRS cannot allow Dick Simkanin to roam free. Go read what I read in August of 2002. I believe that the Government forced him to remove this from his site. But you cant delete something from the archive. There he is standing tall and with a smile so genuine, who is this man? "I am a free american! Don't mess with Texas. And by the way, I refuse to withhold money from my employees."

In his letter to Bob Shultz he ends with "No King but Jesus!" That my friends are words that can start a revolution.

Depending on who you are talking about in the freedom movement, its easy to point out faults. But from all I've read of Dick, he seems to be so humble, as in the opposite of proud.

It is clear that he is being railroaded. A fair trial would allow him to present his side of the story. The problem with letting Dick Simkanin present his side over the objections of the prosecutions, is that people can smell a rat. Some people even know when they are being lied to. This is where we come in.

I cannot attend the trial, but even if I could, I would not get to speak with the jury to tell them what questions would not be answered if they asked.

I love Claire Wolfe. She can be such a joy to read. Well it seems that Allen Hacker isn't the only thorn in the side of WTP lately. But its not like they have it out for them either. They are just holding them accountable in the public forum, which is proper since these are public issues. When integrity is on the line don't you think the goal should be resolution? Make a phone call, get it straightend out, clear your name. We are in this together, lets act like it. It comes down to the fact that we all screw up, what sets us apart is how we deal with our screw up. Are we unresponsive?

WTP as an organization is trying to sell principles of freedom, to free the minds of business owners. People who own a business and actually turn enough of a profit to hire employees tend to not put up with crap. They want to be able to rely on you to keep your promises. If agree to sell him 1000 widgets delivered on Tuesday only to discover that you can no longer fulfill the order, he will cease to do business with you. He cannot afford to do business with people who don't follow through, plain and simple.

Now tell an employer that he should not follow the advice of his accountant and stop witholding payroll taxes from employees. You need to be above reproach, all your ducks in a row just to get his attention. Why should he risk his business and a possible tangle with the IRS for your theory.

My point in all this is to say that WTP has bigger fish to fry. Try to stay above the fray. Listen to criticism and apply it. Or am I giving you a bad rap? Let me know if I am, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

I've been rather silent, mostly because I've been busy working. I was also trying to write an essay on slavery but since I can barely keep up with my normal blog I kind of pushed that back. You just can't try to be someone you aren't. And your blog ultimately needs to be written for yourself, not others. I don't have to try to please anyone, just be myself. Lately I've become disheartened by the futility of changing the way government operates. You just can't change it from top down. The problem as I see is that once you get to Washington DC, you need to insure that you stay there to make a difference because change happens so slowly there. And because of democracy, you stay in power by being popular. The fastest and most sure way to popularity is to give stuff away.

I've enjoyed watching the Sunday morning political shows yesterday. First Lady Laura Bush, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Secretary Robert Ritch, columnist George Will, Caroline Kennedy, they are all just people. They are people that I would love to sit down and chat with.

Well, I have been blessed with three part time opportunities and together they and paying just enough for now. So it is possible to get laid off, take less pay for more work, and still get by without collecting unemployment in this economy. The following letter was written by a 14 year old daughter of one of our troops who was killed when the convoy he was in was attacked with an improvised explosive device and rocket-propelled grenades in Samarra, Iraq, on October 1, 2003. It was just 17 days after he was deployed. This letter was written after he died. The soldier/father/husband in question was Command Sergeant Major Blankenbecler. Mistrial is declared in tax case

Star-Telegram Staff Writer

FORT WORTH - Bedford businessman Richard Simkanin remained in federal custody Tuesday night after jurors said they could not reach a verdict on a 27-count indictment accusing him of failing to withhold taxes from his employees' wages and of filing fraudulent claims for tax refunds.

U.S. District Judge John McBryde declared a mistrial after jurors said they were deadlocked after eight hours of deliberations.

Prosecutors said they would retry Simkanin, 59, who couched his opposition to federal income tax in the patriotic language of the Founding Fathers, publicly declared his contempt for the federal government and once wrote to the Treasury secretary that he had repatriated himself from the United States to the "Republic of Texas."

On his Web site, Simkanin published a warning that spoke of the "fury of a fire" that would consume his adversaries. McBryde cited the warning in a scathing order issued July 14 in which he stated his reasons for keeping Simkanin in jail pending trial.

Simkanin, 59, the owner of Arrow Custom Plastics, pleaded guilty Sept. 30 to charges of failing to collect and pay taxes on his employees' wages. The plea agreement was accepted by McBryde.

But it was later discovered that the plea documents contained a mistake regarding the potential maximum sentence. The original plea documents said the maximum possible sentence was three years, but attorneys later realized that the document should have said five years.

McBryde threw out the plea agreement, and Simkanin then decided not to accept another plea offer with a possible penalty of five years. He opted to go to trial.

He went on trial Monday on 12 counts of failing to collect and pay $175,000 in taxes on his employees' wages from January 2000 through December 2002 and 15 counts of filing fraudulent claims for tax refunds totaling $234,515 for the years 1997 through 1999.

Defense attorney Arch McColl of Dallas said seven attorneys and the judge overlooked the mistake in the original plea agreement.

McColl and Assistant U.S. Attorney David Jarvis, the lead prosecutor in the case, said they had never known of a case going from a final plea agreement to a trial.

Simkanin was a member of a group of citizens who took out a full-page ad in USA Today on March 2, 2001, declaring their opposition to the federal income tax. Members of the group call themselves "non-filers"-- the term they prefer over "tax protesters."

Simkanin testified Monday that he followed the advice of a certified public accountant who told him it was legal to stop withholding taxes from his employees' paychecks. He said his tax views are based on his Christian faith.

"I was robbing [the employees] of their opportunity if I withheld the fruits of their labor," Simkanin testified.

Jurors in Simkanin's trial had to weigh the evidence in light of a unique feature of federal tax laws: Ignorance of the law is a legal defense if a taxpayer unintentionally violates the law after accepting wrong advice in good faith.

Prosecutors argued that Simkanin knew that his employees' wages were taxable income.

The government witnesses included Simkanin's former accountant, Fred Taylor, who testified that his firm stopped representing Simkanin when Simkanin refused Taylor's advice to keep withholding and paying taxes on employees' wages. Taylor, an accountant with more than 25 years of experience, said he told Simkanin that it would be unlawful to drop out of the tax system.

Jarvis said Simkanin wrote a letter to U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Ennis, on Aug. 2, 2000, urging Barton to support legislation to abolish the withholding requirement proposed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Clute, the 1988 Libertarian Party candidate for president.

"If Mr. Simkanin had a good-faith misunderstanding of the law, if he believed withholding wasn't required under the existing law, why would he ask Congressman Barton to support a change in the law?" Jarvis asked.

McColl said his client trusted certified public accountant Wayne Paul.

"Mr. Paul advised my client he did not have a requirement to withhold because of the particular business he was in," Mccoll said. "He relied on that opinion in good faith."

Why presidential candidate weblogs aren't working by Dave Winer

My response;

Given the tone in Washington, no candidate can really be him/herself. Yes, we want to feel connected to them. No, we don?t want to be marketed to.

Recognize that the blog is a tool, and use it as that. Acting like their blog is a look into what they really are thinking is a joke as long as they are running everything through a campaign staff.

I do think that it is possible for a freshman congressman to blog, and do it well. That is only if they start blogging before they get to DC. Can you imagine if they blogged about their disgust at how petty the fighting can be, or how they have no way reading the bill that they are voting on. I would love to have access to their thought process beyond the talking points memo. Why they voted up or down on an issue. Getting past the sound byte.

When politicians can be honest, then we will see their human side. But as long as the supermajority of voters only respond with knee-jerk reactions, they wont be able to handle an honest blog from a veteran politician.

The first person that I thought of that I could imagine writing a blog from DC was Linda Smith.

I remember seeing her on a platform with Ross Perot discussing campaign finance reform on CSPAN in 1995.

Linda Smith's strong belief that politicians should not be "for sale" by lobbyists caused her to launch the "Clean Congress Campaign" in her first year. More importantly, she believed so strongly that she quit taking any money herself from these special interests. Nevertheless, Linda won re-election in 1996 without taking any special interest money.

This is a woman with integrity. And there are more like her, you just don't see them. They get hounded by their party leaders for not selling out. They don't get funding from the party because they are not a "team player".

If those voices can start blogs, we can really change the tone in DC. Of course the party would never allow such impudence. That why it needs to be started by those that have real grassroots campaigns.

Thoughts that run through my mind,

1. Dick was held without bail for almost six months

2. He agreed to plead guilty (I might too if you took me away from my wife and child)

3. The judge did not want the LAW to be heard

4. Withholding is a voluntary agreement, W4, read this alternate W4 that shows the law. Print out all of these forms, hold them in your hand. Think about what the law says. It is eye opening.

I get pissed! In an information age, you cant keep this from comming down. And when it does we need to find a new source of funding for those government grants to open your own espresso stand or to study lichen in the mohabe desert.

When that time comes, enter the Fair Tax to save the day.

I enjoyed the whole article from the last post, but I am not sure that I want to go public. I really want to protect my family from the IRS. The fact that 98% of people would be afraid to buck the system even if they knew they were right is a testimony to what kind of society we live in. We're all celebrities now, in a sense. Everything that we say or do is on the record. And everything that's on the record is recorded for posterity, and indexed far better than any file photo or PR bio ever was. It used to be that only those who chose career paths that resulted in notoriety or celebrity would face having to censor themselves or be forced to consciously control the image that they project. But this faded as celebrity culture grew and as individuals are increasingly marketed as brands, even products.

But if you care about your privacy, and you care about your identity, take the steps to control it now.

This afternoon, I was checking the visitor stats on my blog's hit counter, and I noticed that someone, using the "NIPR.mil" domain, was at my blog. (I had noticed visitors from that domain before.) The visit report stated that this visitor had visited many pages within my weblog site. After doing a web search for information about "NIPR.mil" (I don't think that it is a website url), I IM'ed Pieter... I noted during that IM conversation that my hit counter was reporting that this visitor had now visited 13 pages within my site. Then it showed that the number of pages that he/she had visited was up to 21, and that visitor had spent over 27 minutes at my blog. I refreshed that SiteMeter page, and it reported that he/she had now been to a total of 22 pages within my site, and had spent over 41 minutes there. When that visit had finally concluded, that individual had been through an amazing 27 pages within my blog, and had spent a phenomenal 48 minutes and 55 seconds doing so.

I get them from the IRS. I dont think that is of ill intent. I think that it is someone working in a department killing time, wasting it on the internet. Military networks are locked out of going to places like ebay for this reason. But they cant lock them out of searching with google. So the end up searhing what is of intrest to them.

If it was to glean info for ill intent they would not leak their IP address all over.

Just realize that your audience is bigger than you thought. And pray that the truth you speak will get through to them.

Gov employees are people too, and the less work they do the better. I say that they should be allowwed to waste all day reading the public diaries of those who declare that their job is irrelivant :)

My response,
I think that it would take God telling me that I am to leave, which He may do one day. But at this time I feel him pushing me back into the den of lions that is the republican party.

Politics is about power. Both parties are fighting for power for powers sake. Most people on the right and left are blinded from the truth by ideology.

The dems are becoming the godless party, and the republicans are putting more and more faith in the state.

There is no third party that can win, only spoil elections.

The ONLY way that a third party could win is if one of the other parties disolved and a new one created, filled with people that already where elected to office. So that the debate was between two parties. That is the way it is. This opinion has come in part from listening to Michael Medved discuss the history of third party politics in america.

In this day and age, when only 25%(?) of people vote, and their opinion is formed by watching cable news, there is no way someone can be elected on principal. Only marketing and spin, pure and simple.

Ok, now its your turn. Tell me if I'm wrong and why. I need to interchange people.

A friend of mine was talking to me about the fear of attracting the attention of the IRS. They can really make your life hell. But we want to live a life of integrity. This is what he emailed to me after our talk.

It's as if we are in the matrix. We chose the red pill and now we know that our life is better. We realize that by choosing this life, we have to live in constant fear, looking over our shoulder...but we also feel that this is the only way. We took the red pill, became enlightened, and now we cant go back.

Allen Hacker got a little angry and let it out today. I am with you and I am not. Allen has some great wisdom about fighting for freedom, and then I feel he also misses it.

I just saw The Matrix 3, I loved it. Neo does what he has to. Niobe does what she has to. Everyone does what they have to, they make the choice. And while the are fighting for the same thing, freedom and peace, they don't do it in the same way. At times it appears that they are going in opposite directions, but they are fighting on the same side.

Allen, my point is that they go back into the matrix when they need to, for a purpose, to pull someone else out, to set just one more captive free. There are many in the grassroots of the republican party that are frustrated, on the verge of waking up to reality. Do not alienate them by calling them idiots. We all fight with what we have, don't fight with those that would stand beside you.

And don't tell me that I am part of the problem just because I am choosing to stay in the republican party. I am going back in for a purpose. Back me up the same as you would back up the guy fighting for the right to travel without a license.

Ok Vox, I am tracking with you buddy. I haven't had much time to read things on the internet this week but I have had many hours of hard manual labor. It leaves you exhausted but your mind has had time to think things through, dream about the possibilities.

I pray all the time for people in other countries. I have a longing for justice, that they could grasp the concept of freedom and also meet the Creator of the universe.

My heart aches for China, I hate totalitarianism. Have you heard the stories? Forced child labor, forced abortions, abortions if the baby is going to be a girl (girls are of no value).

People claim that if you just wait, China will come around, because of capitalism. Well Vox just spoke my mind about the Third Way that we are becoming and so is China. How quaint, here comes 1984. Not exactly but you have to admit that at this rate, how much longer do we need?

Free trade good, government control bad. Real free trade, not this perversion of NAFTA.

Go to the heart of the matters and clear your mind. Then ask yourself simple questions like,

What does the 2nd Amendment mean? (don't ask a lawyer, you answer)

wouldn't the 13th Amendment mean that I am a slave to no one? Not even government?

Actually when you look at the constitution, nothing good has been added since 1870. Name one of those amendments since 1870 that has helped us as a nation. I would love to hear your thoughts. Hey Doug, I have had a very busy two weeks and just found out about the whole levy thing. If I knew that you banked at Bank of America I would have let you in on a little secret. The bigger they are the less they listen to you. Did you know that anyone that has access to your back account number (ever written a check? Paid with a debit card?) and knows the last 4 digits of your ssn can find out EVERY TRANSACTION amount that via B of A banker by phone. That is very useful info when preparing to lien a bank account. If it can be done, it will be done. The IRS will always take what they can, because they can. I am sorry for your loss but you have had some time to prepare for this one.

Anyone can be made to just about anything once they are being held by the short and curls. Why keep your head in the chopping block waiting for the inevitable. Stand up and start your new life. You still have more opportunity that 95% of the world. Remember, they cant take it if it isnt yours, next time that is :)

Where I live in Pierce County they are running a sales tax increase on the ballot this year, we just got a flyer in the mail. It says "more cops, 24 hour protection". That is not true. Every one of us is responsible to protect ourselves and those that depend on us. Police are there to arrest after the law is broken, not provide protection. A shepherd protects the sheep. Vox also points out some other hits by Farah. Farah does nail it in issues where the media refuses to state the obvious because of bias. Not liberal bias, PC bias, establishment bias. If I was a terrorist, there are so many things that could be done by one man to wreak havoc, and they could not be stopped by a homeland security dept. But they could be stopped by a people who are not afraid protect this nation. Ordinary citizens like you and me. The other day the thought went through my mind "What would I do if a sniper shot someone next to me in a parking lot?" I would assess the situation and start running toward and sideways but I would not run away. (see the Bourne Identity) Those DC snipers were relying on people being afraid, running away. I am unarmed, don't carry a weapon, but I would not let some coward rule my life. What if just 5 kids with a sense of justice carried a concealed handgun to school in Columbine? You would have a much different result there. These are my random thoughts.

Any woman that has given birth to 10 children has my respect, and she homeschools to boot. We can use more mothers that are as self sacrificing as she, not mention more fathers that will be as self sacrificing as to support a family that size (its not a matter of finances, its about discipline)

Help me! I got bit last week by a linux bug. It is now starting to fester. Like a splinter in my mind. As I mopped floors for about 4 hours tonight I had thoughts of distros running through my head. I give it about a month before cant take it anymore. Who cares if there is no room for another box, and no time to download over dialup, no time to sit in front of a computer for hours.

First it was palm OS, then irfanview, then came opera, and now this. Cant I just be normal like everyone else?

The fear of trying to get it up and running is being overcome by the fact that I just spent 20 min downloading yet another 4 critical updates to windows XP. At least I can get my freedom from opera for now, but soon it is going to get bad.

I have been working without a SSN for almost 6 months. It feels great. Until the reality of lack of security hits. Lost my provision stream (i dont have income, sorry guys) last week. Came hard. I support my wife and son. If it was just me I can always sleep under a bridge but I have family. As people found out our situation they would ask "so are you going to get unemployment?" I side step the question with "Unemployment wont pay the bills" which is true. I was in no mood to be lectured for working as an independant contractor. It is the risk factor. We americans are lazy and would rather run to the massa to help us. The gov owns everything anyway.

But not me, I will run to God who owns everything I have. I was following Him and He will continue to lead me.

The first thing my wife said to me was "if you could do anything, what would it be?" ok, am I blessed or what? She is the best! Well we are not sure what we will do but for now I am a wage slave again until the bills are paid. There is work out there if you are willing to sacrifice pride. My family comes before the words "I am worth more than $10 an hour." It is not easy to work 15 hour days but isnt it great to have that option?

So I am not complaining at all. Life is good. We life in an awesome country, even if it is slouching toward communism. Remember, Socialism is still 100% voluntary :) how bad to you want freedom?

The whole experience gave me a chance to see how Americans act when one of their golden calves is under attack. Being raised in this country and being told countless times that this the greatest form of government and not understanding the concepts that this country was truly founded on, it makes it hard for most people to even imagine that anything could actually be better. With so much else that goes on in this world and so much to worry about, it’s hard for people to stop and think some things over. It’s much easier to allow someone else make the big decisions.

And even though only I have these beliefs – to the extent that I’ve taken them that is – at my school, there is a solace a person can find in knowing that your beliefs frighten the establishment. It shows that as powerful as the status quo and the government are, they still fear individuals, and with good reason. A single person can influence a person who influences another person and so on, and soon the state doesn’t seem as powerful and unstoppable as they once were.
